About

Hello and welcome to your friendly neighborhood Dentist! I am a multi-media artist that has been living in Portland, Oregon since 2017, but I found my passion for art well before my arrival to the Pacific Northwest. I grew up in the greater Chicagoland area and studied at The School of the Art institute of Chicago (SAIC). Well before my endeavors with education in the realm of art, I always had a fascination with the world around me. Many forms of my inspiration comes from pop culture figures/icons, movies, etc. This can easily be seen in my previous works both in the form of tattoos as well as art installations. This inspiration arrises from movies such as Pee-Wee Herman’s Big Adventure, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the classic Batman cartoons from the 60s and 70s. Growing up, I was fascinated with how these movies and shows would catch my eye; therefore, I find myself unearthing my roots to help express myself better to you. My intent as being The Dentist is to give a new, and more satisfying experience while sitting in the chair. Dentistry actually runs in my family, and due to this, my combination and love for art happens to reveal itself primarily in the form of tattooing. Therefore, I feel I am somewhat following in the footsteps of my successors, while also providing a Neo-traditional form of Americana. Prior to my start with tattooing, I based my business off my pseudonym, “Bare Bonez.” Bare Bonez was my way of being able to create and provide for the city. It was then where I would primarily focus on creating vinyl stickers, slap ups, and wood cut panels to be placed around the city, such as many artists do in Portland. I found success with being able to have small showings at coffee shops, bars, and other stores in and around Portland, but I felt I needed more. That is when I decided to take up tattooing. Now I consider myself a self-taught tattoo artist, however I am licensed through the state of Oregon. My belief is that if I can find inspiration from the world around me, why can’t I share that with others? And what better way to do it than having me work for you, the people! Any hoodles, thanks for stopping by your local neighborhood Dentist.
